7/13/2023 0 Comments Android auto won t connect![]() ![]() If you're lucky enough to find a good dealership, they'll charge you $140 for the update anyways. The infotainment system have an update, but most of the dealerships are unaware of it. If you take to the dealership, they'll act like they know something g and they'll reset the head unit (some dealership will charge a $130 "troubleshooting diagnostic" to see what's the problem. One solution would be to do a factory reset and go from there. If there are factory firmware updates, do you think that would help?Īlright, first of all, the cable is not the problem, this problem occured to me once, I've used multiple type C cables, including the OEM and still wasnt working. If I could charge the stupid phone and just have AA run off Bluetooth, life would be good.Īre there factory updates for the headunit? I haven't been back to the dealership since I bought it, save for a brief visit for a TPMS related inquiry. Ironically, even if Android Auto loses connection, the phone is still clearly connected because it continues to charge. I also do not have issues with the charging port when the phone is on a charger, so it's definitely something with either the software of the car's USB port.Īnyone else have this issue and know of a remedy? I wish Android Auto could be enabled via bluetooth or something, that would make the hassle 10x easier. ![]() I've had the same issue with several authentic OEM Samsung cables, brand new, and even when I upgraded to an S9 last year from my S8, the issue persisted, so I know it is likely not the charging port on the phones. The only way I know of to enable Android Auto is via USB tethering, but every single day throughout the day I encounter times where just the slightest jostle of the phone untethers it and oftentimes re-plugging it in immediately will not reconnect it. But, since I've switched this to "on," I've had no issues whatsoever with Android Auto OR Apple CarPlay (I have a personal and work phone and use both in the car).Bought my Civic new last year in March, it's a 2018 EX-T, and in the near year and a half that I've owned it, by far my biggest gripe is issues staying connected to Android Auto. I don't know what caused this to be set to "off" by default, perhaps something I've done inadvertently in the last 18 months owning the car, but also possible it came that way from the factory. ![]() Make sure the Android Auto ON/OFF setting is turned to "On." Tabs will show for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Press the dimmer, audio power and menu buttons simultaneously this brings up a self-diagnosis screen. I stumbled across this myself, couldn't find these steps anywhere on the web in all my looking around. To clarify-I've been successfully using Apple CarPlay since I got the car, just Android Auto wouldn't work. The problem seems to be that the buried settings on the infotainment system were not configured to allow Android Auto to connect. But, here's what I got as a solution to my problem, wondering if it is going to get anyone else out of their issues. I tried reinstallations, reboots, and even a hard reset of the stock infotainment system in my 2016 Civic Touring. Every time I'd connect, the phone would charge, but nothing else would happen. Through two different Android phones (new ones: Galaxy S8+ and Google Pixel 2 XL), I had NO success in connecting them to my car and having Android Auto launch on its own. ![]()
